77-year-old Winifred Peel, from Bromborough in Wirral, was using a local cash machine in April this year when she was targeted by a gang of teenage thieves.

However, one of the robbers got more than he bargained for when his victim grabbed onto him and smashed his head repeatedly into the cash machine.

The trio of criminals - Felix Stoica, 19, Piper Dumitru, 18, and Florin Geblescu, 18 - had driven to Bromborough from Manchester looking for “easy targets”, Liverpool Crown Court heard this week.
