Chicago Mayor Targets Chick-fil-AThe recent dust-up between the Mayor of Boston and the owner of the Chick-fil-A restaurant company has brought to light the glaring hypocrisy of those on the left. They say one thing, but do another. Now, Rahm Emanuel -- Bill Clinton's former chief stooge and current mayor of Chicago -- has stepped into the fray, saying, "Chick-fil-A's values are not Chicago values."

First, let's recap what's been going on in Boston. In response to Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's comments regarding his belief in the traditional, Biblical definition of marriage, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino went off the deep end. He wrote a letter to Cathy saying, "There is no place for discrimination on Boston's Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it." Menino went on to write: "I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston."
Now, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel feels the need to add his two cents worth. The Chicago Sun Times reports on the growing controversy:

"Chick-fil-A's values are not Chicago values. They're not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members. And if you're gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values," Emanuel said Wednesday.

"What the CEO has said as it relates to gay marriage and gay couples is not what I believe, but more importantly, it's not what the people of Chicago believe. We just passed legislation as it relates to civil union and my goal and my hope ... is that we now move on recognizing gay marriage. I do not believe that the CEO's comments ... reflects who we are as a city."

Wow... I'd be willing to be that there are quite a few people living in Chicago who do NOT share Emanuel's views. Does he really think that no one in Chicago believes in traditional marriage. Isn't he imposing his personal views on the entire city? Isn't that what liberals claim they are against?

Emanuel blasts a man for espousing his Christian views, but then welcomes Louis Farrakhan to the city with open arms. There is absolutely no sanity here.

This whole issue reveals how liberal have absolutely no standards. They claim they "celebrate diversity," but they do not. They claim to be the champions of tolerance, but they are not.

Dan Cathy shared his personal beliefs. There is absolutely no discrimination going on at Chick-fil-A. Anyone can go there. Anyone can eat there. No one is turned away. Yet, both of these liberal mayors want to use government and political influence to shut down a business based on an individual's personal beliefs. Who is being intolerant and insensitive?

The best thing we can do is to continue to show our support for Chick-fil-A. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and liberals seems to be tolerant only of the opinions of fellow liberals. Shameful!
